OUR PROJECT


WHAT IS FOOD?
Food is Discovery, is................

THE STARTING POINT OF OUR PROJECT WAS THE  CURRENT MULTICULTURAL SOCIAL  CONTEXT  OUR STUDENTS CAN   EXPERIENCE IN  THEIR  EVERYDAY  LIFE. 
IN  OCTOBER  2015 THEY  VISITED  EXPO2015  AN ACTIVITY WHICH GAVE THEM  THE  OPPORTUNITY TO  GET  IN  TOUCH WITH  WORLDWIDE FOOD  CULTURES  AND EATING  HABITS .THIS  EXPERIENCE  ENABLED US  TO MAKE  THEM THINK  ABOUT  FOOD  THEMES  SUCH  AS : HEALTHY  AND  UNHEALTHY  FOOD - NUTRIENTS - DIGESTIVE SYSTEM - FOOD  AND  COLOURS - FOOD  AND  HEALTH -  FOOD  AND  CULTURE -  FOOD  AND  ECONOMY - FOOD  AND  CREATIVITY.
CONSEQUENTLY, WE  USED CULTURE  TO APPROACH   SCIENTIFIC   ISSUES  RELATED  TO  FOOD. THE  PROJECT HAS  BEEN  DEVELOPED  USING  DIFFERENT  TEACHING  STRATEGIES AND TECHNIQUES BASED ON A LEARNER-CENTERED MODEL (web quest, flipped classroom) IN WHICH CLASS TIME EXPLORED TOPICS IN GREATER DEPTH AND CREATED MEANINGFUL LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES WHILE EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGIES SUCH AS ON LINE VIDEOS HAVE BEEN USED TO DELIVER CONTENT INSIDE AND OUTSIDE THE CLASSROOM. HOWEVER. IN ORDER TO CARRY OUT A MULTI-LEVEL LEARNING PROCESS, THE LAST STEP OF THIS ACTIVITY WAS TO PRESENT THE SCIENTIFIC TOPICS USING FRONTAL LESSONS WITH TECHNOLOGICAL DEVICES: SMART BOARD, TABLETS, PCs, INTERNET ASKING STUDENTS TO EXPLORE SOME ISSUES MORE ACCURATELY, AS A FOLLOW UP THEY HAVE BEEN ASKED TO PRODUCE MULTIMEDIA REPORTS WHICH HAVE THE AIM TO SUM UP AND CONSOLIDATE THEIR KNOWLEDGE AND COMPETENCES ABOUT FOOD.
